Help Wanted

Start your job search now!

When you apply for WFNJ, you will be required to participate in a job search/job readiness or placement activity while your application is being processed. Certain TANF applicants may receive assistance through the Early Employment Initiative (EEI). EEI offers you up to 30 days of intense job search, plus help in paying for one-time expenses such as car repairs or back rent. In many cases, you will be placed into a job and avoid going on welfare. Therefore, you won't have to use any time toward your five-year limit.

If you are not working or participating in EEI, you must register for work with your localĀ One-Stop Career Center, and your work skills will be reviewed. If you are working part-time, you will also need to register for work. Your caseworker will explain how to do this.

Getting a job as soon as possible leaves you with more time in the future to be eligible for welfare if there is an emergency, such as losing your job or becoming ill.
