CPO Wes Kille Receives “Wildlife Officer of the Year” Award from Shikar-Safari Club International

October 18, 2019

Congratulations to Conservation Police Officer (CPO) Wes Kille who was selected as the 2018 New Jersey Wildlife Officer of the Year by Shikar-Safari Club International, a conservation-based organization that presents awards annually to wildlife law enforcement officers in all 50 states, ten Canadian provinces, and the territories of both nations. Hired by the Division in 2002, CPO Kille is currently assigned to the Bureau of Law Enforcement's Southern Region encompassing Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

His 2018 accomplishments include successfully closing an illegal deer hunting investigation that lasted for five years. Due to his detailed reports, persistence and investigative expertise, CPO Kille was finally able to prove the unlawful night harvest (i.e., spotlighting) and illegal possession of 14 deer.

CPO Kille was also instrumental in spearheading numerous 2018 cases involving turkey hunting violations including baiting, tagging, trespassing and stalking as well as many permit and zone violations. Relying upon his extraordinary ability to conduct thorough inspections, methodical evidence searches and successful interviews of suspects, he has been consistently able to bring wildlife violators in the southern region to justice.

Conservation Police Officer Kille continues to be a fine asset to the field of conservation law enforcement. The Division takes great pride in his commitment to our fish and wildlife resources, and the habitat they depend on in our state.
