Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) and Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC)

Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC)

The purpose of the MAC program is to promote the availability of Medicaid covered health services such as those services covered by the Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) program, ages 3-21.

The MAC program is designed to recover some of the costs associated with school-based health and outreach activities, costs that are not reimbursable under the Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) program. Some of these activities include:

  • Outreach to the Medicaid program;
  • Facilitating an Application for Medicaid;
  • Care planning and Coordination for Medical/Mental Health Services;
  • Client Assistance to Access Medicaid Services; and
  • Program Planning, Policy Developing, and Monitoring of Medicaid Services.
Percentage Shares
Effective for all services rendered July 1, 2006 and forward, the district share for SEMI and MAC is 35% of net revenue.
