Atlantic City Back In Business For Events, Groups And Conventions After Hurricane Sandy

TRENTON, NJ – Two of the Northeast’s top event and convention venues, the Atlantic City Convention Center and Historic Boardwalk Hall, are open for business after Hurricane Sandy with neither experiencing any significant damage from the unprecedented storm.

According to Jeff Vasser, president of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, the destination is working very closely with groups whose meetings, conventions or events were impacted by the hurricane.

“Both the Atlantic City Convention Center and Historic Boardwalk Hall came through the storm and both venues are ready to resume operations,” said Vasser. “We know how difficult it was for those groups who were forced to cancel or postpone their events due to the storm and are working with organizers to either accommodate new dates or encourage them to consider Atlantic City for the future.”

Vasser notes that Historic Boardwalk Hall will play host to superstar Carrie Underwood’s concert performance scheduled for November 9, as well as the Adrien Broner vs. Antonio DeMarco Championship Boxing match scheduled for November 17.

“These high profile events will each be an excellent showcase for the destination, as we let people know that Atlantic City continues to be one of America’s top locations for world-class events, groups and conventions,” said Vasser.

The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority serves as the destination's principal marketing arm, stimulating economic growth through convention, business and leisure tourism development. The Authority oversees the management of the Atlantic City Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall. The Authority is the first destination marketing organization in New Jersey to achieve prestigious Destination Marketing Accreditation by the Destination Marketing Association International.
