CRESSKILL – Governor Phil Murphy today highlighted the economic benefits of the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act as he visited the set of NBC and Universal Television’s “The Enemy Within,” the first production to begin filming in New Jersey since the act became law in July. “Film and Digital Media” was a key sector mentioned in the Economic Development Strategic Plan that was unveiled on Monday.

“New Jersey is proud to be the birthplace of the film industry and I am thrilled that NBC and Universal Television have selected our State as the primary filming location for ‘The Enemy Within,’” said Governor Murphy. “New Jersey is becoming a force in our nation’s film and media industries, as production crews across the country are eager to take advantage of our location and diversity. The Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act is already creating good-paying jobs and stimulating our economy, while helping to advance our goal of establishing New Jersey as a home for 21st-century growth industries.”

To film “The Enemy Within,” NBC and Universal Television will spend over $50 million for the purchase of goods, services, and payments to workers in New Jersey. NBC’s investment will also bring over 300 jobs to New Jersey and will purchase approximately 1,500 New Jersey hotel nights over the course of filming.

Governor Murphy signed the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act into law on July 3, 2018. Sponsors of the legislation include Assemblymen Gordon Johnson, Paul Moriarty, and Louis Greenwald, and Senators Loretta Weinberg and Paul Sarlo.
