TRENTON – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and Attorney General Gurbir Grewal today released the following joint statement after a Texas court denied a motion by the State of Texas for a preliminary injunction in a case concerning the future of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. New Jersey was party to the lawsuit and intervened after the federal government declined to defend DACA.
“Today is a win for thousands of New Jerseyans who proudly call our state home – and hundreds of thousands of DREAMers nationwide who have known no other nation than ours. We will continue to ensure that New Jersey remains a welcoming place for all who wish to be part of America’s story. It is now time for Congress to finally enact comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to full citizenship for our DREAMers.”
