The commission, founded in 1982, has as its main task the responsibility of implementing the Holocaust/genocide mandate passed in 1994. This is accomplished by coordinating teacher training programs statewide and by developing curriculum guides for the classroom. The overall goal is to remember the victims of genocide and reduce the evils of bias, bullying, bigotry and prejudice in schools.
