Forestry Grant Opportunities
For the 2012 fiscal year, our state will be eligible for up to 1.65 million in grants supporting priority issues identified in the NJ Forest Action Plan from the Northeastern Region US Forest Service.
Three grant categories
*proposals must be submitted under only one category
- Competitive resource "redesign grants"
For forestry practices, forest stewardship, integrated forest fire hazard mitigation, and all forest health issues not identified in the forest health category.
- Forest health management and treatments
for health issues: Asian longhorned beetle, emerald ash borer, hemlock wooly adelgid, thousand canker disease, as well as invasive plants.
- Forest fire hazard mitigation
for: wildland fuel treatments, education of communities and homeowners, and other activities that reduce wildfire risk.
Eligibility
Both large and small projects will be considered and funded.
Non-profit organizations, universities, and other partner groups must submit proposals through the State Forester.
Grant award amounts
$25,000 minimum for Redesign Grants
No minimum for Fire Hazard Mitigation or Forest Health Management and Treatment
The maximum is 15% of the total funding available per area
